Farmer’s Markets

The Photo Project

To me, markets go beyond their intent as business centers, are hubs of social interactions, places of community development and overall indicator of a society’s well being.

I began to photograph U.S. farmer’s markets in 2007 as part of a story I wrote then. Since then I have continued to photograph them whenever and wherever I come across them.

When the opportunity rises I have also photographed markets in other parts of the world.

The Peruvian Potato

This is a edited version of a class essay I submitted at Le Cordon Bleu, Lima for my diploma in Peruvian gastronomy. The paper focused on – 1. the production and types of native potatoes in Huancavelica, Junin and La Libertad, the three of which combined have about 900 varieties of native potatoes. 2. the…

Almond Chicken Curry

Though my daughter is four year old she is pretty sophisticated in her tastes. And keeping in line with child behavior of having no filter she will mercilessly declare that a…

Peru gastronomy class videos

In 2022-2023 I studied at Le Cordon Bleu Lima for a diploma on Peruvian gastronomy. The intense course involving theory, papers and practicals delved deep into Peru’s history, culture and geography and its’ relation to much heralded cuisine. Other courses included Peruvian pastry and its history, biodiversity, marketing and design thinking. The program was beyond other coursework I had completed on Peruvian traditional, regional, modern and seafood cuisine.

These 45 videos are some of the dishes I cooked for the diploma program.
